Mgr Martin Hayes, the vicar general of the diocese of Westminster, confirmed in an email sent to parishes this morning that Fr Richard will be leaving us in the autumn. After almost 20 years in Headstone Lane, Fr Richard has decided to retire, paving the way for a new priest to take over as the shepherd of the parish.
Fr Antonio will be succeeding Fr Richard in October. He was ordained in 2018 and is currently assistant priest in Bishop’s Stortford. Fr Antonio grew up in the neighbouring parish of Sudbury where he was also ordained. No doubt, he is happy about coming to this part of London that he is so familiar with!
We pray for Fr Richard as he prepares for his retirement and thank him for his dedicated service to the parish since 2004. We also pray for Fr Antonio and look forward to welcoming him in the autumn.
